Discussion Question 1

Using personal reflections and the readings, outline steps to resolve ethical dilemmas. What do you consider first when faced with such a dilemma?

How would this process be affected if you were a manager? How would this process change if you were a chief executive officer?

Read the short case, Customer Confidence Issue, in Ch. 3 of Managing Business Ethics (Trevino & Nelson, 2007, p. 93). How would you resolve this moral dilemma? Explain what your action would be, and how you would come to that decision?

Week Five

In addition to being a role model, what can managers do to promote ethical behavior within an organization? List two actions managers can take to enhance the ethical behavior of their employees and explain why/how these two actions will work.

List three managerial traits you feel are necessary for effective ethical management. How do these traits directly or indirectly affect the ethical culture of your organization, and are they effective?

Week Seven

List two ways organizations can encourage high ethical standards. In your opinion, who or what entity must be responsible for encouraging and maintaining ethical standards at the organizational level?

Examine the effects of leaders morals on an organization by answering the following questions:

How does leadership affect the ethical environment within an organization?

What role do you think the personal morals of a CEO plays in the handling of an organizations ethical problems?
