While working in mental health for over 20 years, I have come across clients that have expressed attraction toward me. As a mental health worker, and perspective counselor I understand the boundaries that need placement when working in this field. It is not common for a counselor to have some attraction to a client. It is unethical for the counselor to overstep the boundaries and place oneself in a jeopardizing situation that can lead to harming the client and put self in an ethical dilemma. I agree the inappropriateness of a counselor who seeks a sexual relationship with a client.
