The digestive process starts with the saliva gland which produces saliva. After the food is chewed and mixed with saliva it is turned into bolus and then passed down through the pharynx. From there it goes to the esophagus and then into the stomach. Once in the stomach it is mixed with stomach acid and turned into a semi liquid called chyme, although some of the food is digested in the stomach almost all of it is digested in other areas.
Determining on what was eaten determines on how long it stays in the stomach but once it does leave it goes through the small intestine although the liver, gallbladder and pancreas help in the digestive process.
