I chose to read Free Spirits, Legacy by Bell Hooks. The article is about the life of a young black woman who was raised in Kentucky. The young black woman tells her story about the differences between all the different races, the cultures, and how life was back then compared to how it is now while in college while growing up. The author states "When slavery ended in Kentucky, life was hard for the vast majority of the black people, as the white supremacy and racist domination did not end.
