Negligent Tort

Manufacturers and retailers alike can be found negligent for "defects in the design or manufacturing of products that render such products unreasonably dangerous to the intended users" (Seaquist, 2012, section 8.3). The Consumer Product Safety Commission is responsible for ensuring consumers are reasonably protected from injury or death related to defective products (CPSC, 2014a). Nonetheless, product liability claims occur.
