In this course you have explored the various aspects of technology and nursing research in support of an evidence-based practice, and ultimately, the delivery of safe patient care. In Unit 6, you selected a topic on using technology to solve problems, began article research, and wrote an introduction and outline for this assignment.

For this assignment, write a paper that explores the practical side of technology for nurses—ways that the MSN nurse can apply the principles and tools of technology to solve problems or advance nursing. Include the following in your paper:

A description of your chosen tropic, including any background or history that would help a reader understand your topic.

Your beliefs about the significance of the topic to nursing in general.

How your topic addresses patient care and safety.

How your topic will improve nursing practice or health care outcomes.

The role of the MSN nurse in using technology or informatics to improve nursing practice or patient safety from the perspective of your topic.

The role that other professionals play in relation to your topic and improving nursing practice, and how other professionals will support nursing's role in technology.

Ethical considerations in the use of informatics or technology as related to your chosen topic.

Pitfalls and barriers to successfully using the technology and how these barriers might be overcome.

As it fits for your paper organization, you may use some or all of the above items as section headings.

You will post a completed draft of your paper in this unit's Peer Review discussion by Wednesday in order to get feedback from your peers prior to submitting it to your instructor.
