Impact on Growth CHOC Children's Hospital, located in Orange County, California, opened its doors in October 1964 as a 62-bed children's hospital. It was the vision of Walter Knott (Knott's Berry Farm) and Walt Disney (Disneyland), to serve the children of the growing Orange County community. The original hospital was built on land owned by St Joseph Hospital, which is run by the Sisters of St Joseph of Orange. St Joseph's and CHOC partnered together to provide services directed to the children of Orange County.( 2019)
