Survey of United States History Task 2 Part A Some of the divided American colonies were dissolved after fighting the British, yet, America remained diverse. The countrys first government was weak and decentralized. This meant that a new Constitution had to be drafted. For the Constitution to work the executive, legislative, and judicial branches powers had to be distributed among each other, along with Federalism, the division of powers between states and nation.
