Introduction Nursing-Quality Indicators were established by the American Nursing Association (ANA) in 1998. They were and continue to be used to identify structures of care and care processes, which consequently influence the care outcomes (Montalvo, 2007) for patients. There are currently 14 listed indicators that range from nursing hours per day to acquired infections (catheter or ventilator), all of which will help ensure safety for patients and staff.
