Betty Friedan goes to explain that women in America in the middle of the twentieth century were silently struggling with major life issues. She interviews multiple women of all different ages and they all have the same struggles but there is no name for the problem. In the 1950s and 60s women had reverted to a time where they had little desires for themselves. Society had pushed the idea of femininity and girls were being taught that they must devote their lives to finding a husband and having children.
