Alternative Assessment Analysis

An informal assessment is very similar to classroom-based assessments or alternative assessments. Because informal assessments are used during teaching, they can be utilized at any time. According to Dr. Keith Greer, an informal assessment should be used at least every 20 minutes (Greer, 2014). Informal assessments are appropriate when the teacher needs to see if the students are grasping the concepts that are taught. This occurs during instruction when the teacher feels necessary. There could be a time when instruction is not going as smooth as planned. The teacher can do an informal assessment and reevaluate what or how he or she is teaching the content.
