According to Artists by movement - Impressionism (n.d.), the Impressionism Movement began during the nineteenth century in France during the 1860's and progressed through until the 1880's. There were several key contributing artists that helped spark the movement and the style of painting that was born during this period and Impressionism is still one of the most widely recognizable forms of art and is still in use today.
