What is an example of a J-curve population in nature? Explain. What is an S-curve? Define carrying capacity.
The Exponential curve (also known as a J-curve) happens when there is no boundary line to the size in population. An exception would be a period of a plague that results in numerous deaths which would produce a noticeable but small downward spike in the curve. The Logistic curve (also known as an S-curve) shows the result of a limiting factor such as in the carrying capacity of the environment (Farabee, 2010).
