Checkpoint: THE ORIGION OF LIFE

From the piecing it together in our text book life originated spontaneously and eventually evolved into life as we know it today. Early Earth's atmosphere contained almost no free oxygen and substantially more carbon dioxide compared to today. Experiments have proven that simple carbon-based compounds and amino acids could spontaneously form in early Earth's atmosphere. As time progressed chemical processes, which occur naturally, combined the simple carbon-based compounds into ones that were more complex along with "proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, phospholipids, and nucleotides" (Pruitt, N. L., & Underwood, L. S.) which lead to the forming of protocells.
