Psychodynamic Theory Debate Introduction Throughout the years many different psychodynamic theories have been produced describing individual personality characteristics and interpersonal relations. In this debate we will discuss the psychoanalytic social theory by Karen Horney and the post-Freudian theory by Erik Erikson. Both theorist believed that personality is shaped largely by the social and environmental conditions starting as early as childhood. The two theories contain similar assumptions and explanations and in the following debate we will discuss the similarities and differences of each theory.
