Schizophrenia is a severe, often chronic brain disease that can cause a person to be unable to function at school or work. It can often be hard for those living with schizophrenia to maintain personal relationships, and even take care of their own personal needs. This is a result from a disruption in major brain function, which leads them to have a loss of touch with reality. This includes the individual having symptoms of hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, and disorganized behavior.
