Project & Functional Manager Differences (graded) It is easy to confuse the roles of a project manager with those of a functional manager. As a quick refresher, a functional manager would be in charge of a specific area, such as manufacturing, engineering, or marketing.

Explain the differences between a project manager and a functional manager. What impacts do these roles have on project success? Provide examples of your experience in either or both of these roles.
