Abstract

Predictive policing is a relatively new crime-fighting technique that can be used to both deter

crime and catch criminals red-handed. Combining computer technology together with area-

specific crime data, reports are generated forecasting precisely when and where crimes are most

likely to occur. Police departments maintain records, data, and or databases which log huge

volumes of information on crimes, criminals, suspects, and much more. Inputting that

information into a sophisticated computer program designed to predict crime, to within a 500 by

500 foot location, is proving to have some merit. With technological advances, police no longer
