Religious Interest Groups

Separation of state and church do not stop religious groups from taking interest in lobbying, and in fact, religious groups are active in the political system through some degree. Conservative Protestants give a majority of their support toward the Christian Coalition for agendas such as prayer in school, non-homosexual rights, and against abortion. The Christian Coalition has a relationship or connection toward the two principal political parties. The political parties and Christian Coalition, in fact, influence state government. Through the investigation of connections concerning religious interest groups one will understand the election process and citizen participation.
