Week 4 Discussion 2, Habeas Corpus & the War on Terror For this discussion I chose to read the articleGuantanamo & beyond: Dangers of rigging the rulesby Brian Foley. Mr. Foley opposes the use of Guantanamo Bay detention facility that holds enemy combatants for military tribunals. Mr. Foley considers this method ineffective for combating terrorism. His view is that it slows down investigations by capturing innocent people who will use up valuable resources & give possible false information to prevent more punishment. Mr. Foleys deems this technique to be illegal due to the discontinuance of American law concerning imprisonment, fair trails & speedy justice. As Americans he feels we should lead by example by being merciful to enemies. If not then we could see more terrorists...
