In this paper, I will be discussing the argument about psychiatric drugs. There has been much discussion and controversy about psychiatric drugs being effective or harmful. More than half a million people die from the use of psychiatric drugs every year (Gotzche 2015). Benefits of psychiatric drugs are overemphasized, and harmful effects are understated. Study trials have under-reported deaths. It has been shown that there have been fifteen times more deaths from suicide among people taking psychiatric drugs. Gotzche argues that psychiatric drugs can be stopped without causing harm, but other experts disagree. Are psychiatric drugs harmful over longterm usage?...
