According to Erikson's developmental theory, Mr. Issler is in the Ego Integrity stage. He is retired, and recently lost his wife, which could potentially precipitate a crisis. He is now having health issues, which will require follow-up with a cardiologist. He recently moved to the area to live with his daughter-in-law and does not yet have a primary care physician. He has a medical history of congestive heart failure, hypothyroid, and deep vein thrombosis, and is on Synthroid, Lasix, Coumadin and Metoprolol. Concerns include increasing weakness with shortness of breath over the past two months since his wife's death, mild bradycardia and decreased oxygen saturation. .
