Quantitative research This article is about the effects on a laboring woman and how the support she receive from her family, friends, and or clinical staff affects the women, the babies and birth outcomes. These include the laboring woman decrease the need for pain medication, anesthesia, cesarean section, and lower amounts of 5-minute Apgar scores being less than 7 for the infant at their first 5 minutes of life. The articles show that in this research there is an increase in patient satisfaction with their laboring process.
