OB Clinical Prep: Postpartum

1. Briefly describe nursing assessment of the postpartum mother using the BUBBLE acronym: Breasts:-
   Fullness, tenderness, cracking, bleeding, teach latch-on, measure to help engorgement pain bruising

Uterus: Palpate and note firmness, location in relation to umbilicus, midline or not

Bladder: Assess for distention, urge to void, epidural, prolonged 2nd stage, cath PRN

Bowel: Last BM, Stool Softeners, high fiber, fourth degree laceration

Lochia: Amount, type, saturation, teaching about bleeding after birth

Episiotomy/Incision: REEDA Redness, edema, ecchymosis, discharge, approximation, assess for hemorrhoids.
