Mononucleosis, also known as Mono or the Kissing disease, is caused, primarily, by the Epstein-Barr virus(EBV). It was first discovered in 1964 by use of an electron microscope and was named the Kissing Disease due to the overwhelming incidence of Mononucleosis after kissing someone with the virus.
