Module four paper assignment

The paper assignment for this module that has the following parts:

Part one: to what extent are we products of society? Discuss how the literature assigned to you in this course demonstrates the influence that society has on people. Where and how do we see people being a function of their environment? Answer should be well grounded in the reading. Select parts of the reading that allow you to effectively discuss the ways in which we are constructed by society.

Part two: to what extent do we re-produce society through our decisions? Where in the readings do you see people actively making decisions that allow them to (however minutely) impact their environment? Where do we see people having choices over how to act? Where do we see people not simply following the cultural scripts that are laid out for them? How do these choices influence the other people in their environment?

Part three: what is the benefit (if any) of the theories and empirical research that you have learned about in this class? You will have to be creative if you are to make good on the investment that you and society have made into your taking this class and other publicly funded classes like it.

Making use of a liberal arts education is not a straightforward task. This portion of the paper should not be an exercise in flattery. If you cannot think of any real benefits, then argue for why there is no real benefit and that it would be wise to spend our limited time/money studying something else.

I am not looking for any particular answer. I will be looking at how well you articulate and support your discussion.

Formatting:

For citations, use APA style. Go with a 12 point Times New Roman font. Double spaced with one inch margins. Each of the subsections of the paper should get its own sub-heading to organize your paper and improve its readability.
