As presented in Module 1 the Session Long Project for this course is to compare and contrast specific characteristics between a pathogenic microorganism and a non-pathogenic microorganism. In Module 1 you completed the following component of the SLP:
Selection of pathogenic and nonpathogenic microorganism for the SLP.
Please make the selection carefully. There is a reason that some bacteria, even of the same genus and species, but of different serotypes, are pathogenic. Try to research the literature so that you may understand this point.
Present and discuss the differences and similarities in the structure of the selected microorganisms. Discuss the microorganism's differences in their classification - generally referred to as a natural or phylogenetic classification system. Structural differences can simply be addressed by distinguishing the physical differences between the two microorganisms. Characteristics that are commonly used to classify or distinguish the differences between the microorganisms may also be presented in this module. this module you are to do the following:
