Start by reading the article by Schaufeli and his colleagues (2009) it will give you a broad perspective on the concept of burnout. Then, read the Pines (2005) article and assess your burnout level utilizing the Pines short burnout measure and answer the following questions. To assess your burnout score, complete the scale in the Appendix according to the instructions and calculate your average score.

1. Based on Pines article, how would you interpret your burnout score? Is it relatively high or low?

2. Discuss the implication of having high level of burnout based on Table 4 in Pines article.

3. Based on Schaufeli et al.s article, would you consider burnout a social problem or a medical diagnosis? Explain.

Your paper should be short 2 pages, not including the cover sheet, references, and assessment sheet) and to the point. You are expected to deal with these issues in an integrated fashion, rather than treating them as a series of individual questions to be answered one by one and left at that.
