Western Governors University Literacy Narrative: My Literacy Experience

  The literary event that affected me the most and had the greatest influence on me was during my junior year in high school. We were tasked with either writing about a historical event or to recite an address that had to do with a historical event. I chose the Gettysburg Address for its significance during the Civil War, which would have torn this great country apart. I studied and recited it word for word, as I still do to this day. I find it to be very inspirational. I found the memorization of the address to be difficult, but was well worth the effort. It has stayed with me all these years.
