Week 6 dq2
Some of the poems in this week's assigned reading are definitely more musical than others. I think that "The Tyger" is one example of a musical poem. The meter of each line could easily be set to music. The accented syllables seem to follow a rhythmic pattern which makes the poem have a song-like quality to it.
Another good example of a musical poem is "My Papa's Waltz." This poem also has a structured meter which follows a musical-sounding pattern. As a musician, I was able to follow the poem in the time signature of a waltz. A waltz is written in 3/4 time, which means that each measure has three quarter-note beats. One can read the poem while tapping in threes, and one will see that the words from "My Papa's Waltz" follows this timing perfectly.
