The three classifications of law are; criminal and civil law criminal law is where public commitment of crimes is prosecuted by the governing bodies. Civil law is where a private party may have a lawsuit against another person for a crime which may have been committed.

Substantive and Procedural Law-substantive law is the rights and duties of the people procedural law defines how the courts handle's try and sentence a case.

Public and Private Law-public law is define as the relationship between the government and the individuals and private law is how the individual or groups act with each other. Bushman, M. (2007).
