Personal Beliefs

Most of our beliefs as educators can be outlined via the educational theories we know and have experienced ourselves. I think students learn in a variety of ways and that can be aligned through the lens of different educational theories.
In the lens of cognitivism, I agree with the theory in that people process new information in stages, and there are limits to how much can be processed at each stage. Thinking specifically of my educational setting, which is with first graders, I know there is a wall they hit if you ever attempt to teach or lecture them for more than a couple minutes.
