Advantages and Disadvantages There are many advantages and disadvantages to Health Information Systems (HIS) in the health care setting. Now, electronic charting is widely used however, this was not always the case. Using a HIS has advantages including real time charting, automatic health information retrieval such as past medical history and lab values, data collection, and safety.
