Hospital Value-Based Purchasing project (30%): CMS has successfully implemented acute hospital pay for performance beginning with FY 2013. Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) means that Medicare will reward hospitals that provide high quality care for their patients in an effort to promote better clinical outcomes and patient experiences of care, or withhold monies from those that do not meet minimum thresholds of care.

Prepare a project deliverable via PowerPoint presentation that would be suitable for delivery to hospital senior leaders if you were serving as the Quality Improvement (QI) Director of the hospital. There is a Hospital VBP folder under Course Documents in Blackboard that provides the minimum resources needed for the project. The deliverable should include information from 3 5 references and cover(at minimum) the following:

A brief overview of the background/history of the inception of Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (VBP)program, including the components for FY 2013, FY 2014, and FY 2015 and the major difference(s) between the three;

The impact the student feels the program will have onenhancing the quality of health care for all Americansand the hospital;

The impact the student feels the program will have on the medical providers;

Based on the FY 2014 worksheet, recommendations for the hospital senior leaders regarding any strengths, opportunities for improvement, etc. that can be identified based on the worksheet results for the hospital. Specifically, are there any areas that it appears the hospital needs to provide resources to improve its performance to not result in leaving money on the table per se with respect to pay for performance?

Be sure to type notes for each PPT slide to indicate the message or point delivered during the presentation to hospital senior leaders.
