Description
His 115 Fort Sumter
INCLUDES SPEAKER NOTES AND POWERPOINT SLIDES
Fort Sumter is an island that was utilized as a military compound off of the cost of South Carolina. In 1861, South Carolina succeeded from the Union to the Confederacy and since the fort belonged to South Carolina it technically became part of the Confederacy. The problem is the fort was currently occupied by the Union Army. The conflict and debates about slavery were at an all time high between the north and the South.
Come March of 1861 the soldiers occupying the fort were running low on supplies and only had about 6 weeks left.
