Electronic Medical Records Medical records started as a paper record and if you needed a copy of them to take to another doctor, you would have to request them. Which could take the office up to seven days to find your chart, make the copies and then charge a fee, because they had to use their paper. Now days medical records have gotten so convenient. They are sent to different offices to help keep control of medications, diagnosis and help the patient have a visible look of what they are being charged. EMR (Electronic Medical Records) also cut down on mistakes and coding errors that can sometimes happen with data entry.
