In the United States, the elevation in the number of women with HIV/AIDS is disturbing. The increase in HIV/AIDS cases among women account for half of the adults living in the United States (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2007). Women who are victims of this fatal disease have limited access to medical care and are loaded with large medical expenses. Depression and social humiliation are common side effects after diagnosis diagnosis (Norman, Abreu, Candelaria, & Sala, 2009).
