The title of the article I have chosen for this assignment is "Organ Transplantation: Protecting Donor Dignity" written by Margret R. McLean. Margaret McLean is the director of the bioethics and associate director for the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University. The idea of organ transplants in general is still under skepticism. How a patient is placed on the list. There is also a great deal of questions if a black market is present for the illegal sale of organs to recipients who are willing to pay and are not willing to wait.

As of April 5, 2010 there are almost 84,000 people who are on a transplant list awaiting a new kidney and 16,000 waiting for a new liver. The law of supply and demand is not on the recipient's side. On average 18 people die each day while they await notification that a donor organ has been located for them.
