**ESSAY EXCERPT***
Communication takes place when one person transmits ideas and or feelings to another person or group. The process of communication is broken down into three elements the first one would be the source, this is the sender, the speaker, the transmitter, and the instructor. The symbols used in composing and transmitting the message, this includes words or signs. The last would be the receiver; this includes the listener, the reader, and the student. The source I communication is the sender, speaker, transmitter, or the instructor. Communication can be achieved through symbols, which are visual and oral codes. The receiver is the listener, reader, or the student. Some of the barriers to effective communication include the lack of common experience, the confusion between the symbol and the symbolized object, the overuse of abstracts, and the interference. The lack of common experience is the biggest issue when it comes to effective communication. Confusion between the symbol and the symbolized object is when one word is confused with what is really represented. The overuse of abstractions, are words that are more general then specific. Interference is made up of factors that are outside the direct control of the instructor.
