Two of the most significant social consequences of the Industrial Revolution are urban crowding and worker safety. Urban crowding had the biggest effect on the poor and immigrants. As the rich and middle class moved to the edge of the city, property owners bought the properties in the city and leased them to the poor. The housing was often inadequately kept up and dirty.
