A comprehensive geriatric assessment is defined as a multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment process that identifies medical, psychosocial, and functional limitations of a frail older person in order to develop a coordinated plan to maximize overall health with aging (Up to Date, 2017). Utilizing this type of assessment can help a health care team identify a variety of treatable health problems involving the medical, psycho-social and functional capabilities and limitations of the elderly. Once these health problems are identified the assessment can then help the team manage, prevent or help with delaying any complications, which then leads to better health outcomes.
