The Theory of Multiple Intelligences has been well accepted by schools throughout the United States. By focusing on student's various intelligences, teachers have seen positive results in student performance. Recently, teachers have begun to channel their lessons, becoming more thorough in their instruction, by focusing on their student's various intelligences. Howard Gardner of Harvard University in his book, Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences, suggests that there are at least seven human intelligences, two of which, verbal/linguistic intelligence and logical/mathematical intelligence, have dominated the traditional pedagogy of western societies.

These theories can be implemented and applied to various classroom settings. They are an effective tool used in Structured English Immersion (SEI) and Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE) classrooms, where students of varying levels of language development and intelligences can receive instruction that will best suit their needs.
