Balanced Literacy Lesson Plan
There are many benefits of teaching from a balanced literacy approach. One way that an educator can model fluent reading for their students is by doing read-alouds. It not only encourages active listening it also encourages students to predict the upcoming events in the story. Comprehension and confidence building is promoted through guided reading. Students find enjoyment of reading during independent reading, this allows them to read their favorite subject or book. I believe the most important factor in a balanced literacy plan is how fluency is approved.
