Balanced Literacy Lesson Plan
The benefits of teaching from a balanced literacy approach are many. Read-Alouds allow the teacher to model fluent reading. It encourages active listening and when questions are asked throughout the story, it encourages the student to predict events. Guided Reading promote comprehension and build confidence. Independent Reading promotes reading for enjoyment. And probably most important, a balanced literacy plan improves fluency.
