Over the last four years our Accounts Receivables Management group has attempted to target and identify a software application with a dbms that uses best in class engineering architecture and security. The backdrop to this was a partly failed implementation of AR system with an IMS 3.0 database, unique in design and engineering it was non-relational and really a drapes and window-dressing modification to bring Unix based architecture into the 21st century.
Saavy users caught on quickly to the shortcomings in IMS and the slow adoption rate quickly exploded. Our company realized the lack of native support by IMS was no longer available at reasonable cost, hiring technical support was also prohibitive. This crisis forced a decision.
