Development of an instrument to measure arts-based oral storytelling instruction in an adult training setting required a new testing model combining formative assessment with summative assessment (Figure 3; Hunt, Wiseman, & Touzel, 2009). Cognitive psychology provided the guiding principle for this design through a global cognitive perception model combined with a linear thinking model of standard measure as defined by Aristotle (Aristotle, 2009; Martinez, 2010).
