The special needs prisoner that I chose to research was the mentally ill inmates. Unfortunately, this topic hits very close to home. My uncle suffers from the illness schizophrenia and has been in and out of the prison system all his life. I absolutely feel so bad for him; he has a heart of gold and will do anything for anyone, especially his family members. Unfortunately, his illness is controlling his mind and frequently causes him to display violent and unacceptable behavior in public, so I do know firsthand that these special offenders exist.
