Law enforcement began many years ago, around the year A.D 1200. Even though the laws were not what they are now, many people still tried to punish criminals the only way they knew how. There are three major legislative and judicial jurisdictions in the United States, federal, state, and local. These division are divided to work in different departments to reduce criminal activity. The Department of Homeland Security, is a "cabinet department of the United States federal government." Its main duty is to protect the United States of America from terrorist attacks.
