As I contemplated my response to Mr. Newcombs situation it presented a personal dilemma based on my moral upbringing. As a Registered Nurse bound to a code of ethics, I must take into account my patients wish. I would assist in arranging for Mr. Newcomb to be able to see his mistress one last time without his wife present. I feel that I must do what is best for the patient and he should be provided the opportunity to see the people he loves before he dies. I came to this choice because I need to respect the patients autonomy.
