The Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976 when there were two outbreaks at the same time in South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ebola Virus Disease, 2015). The Ebola Virus epidemic of 2014 started when an 18-month-old boy from Guinea developed fever, black stool, and vomiting on December 26, 2013 (Ebola Virus Disease, 2015). He died two days later. It is unknown what the source of this boys infection was. Within just the first 3 weeks following this childs death, many members of his immediate family showed symptoms of the illness and died quickly.
